Brooks: FLUENT ANIMATION, IN MY SEASON ONE SIMPSONS?
As disappointed as I am to see such lovely and fluid animation left on the cutting room floor, an animation student I can sort of understand why it was cut.
Reason 1) Animation that good costs A LOT of time and money and to do that kind of quality on a regular Animated TV Sitcom would break their budget out the roof.
Reason 2) Assuming they only used this quality animation in a few scenes in order to save money, having one intricate and wonderfully acted piece of animation peppered in with lower budget scenes would look a little jarring and take the viewer out of the experience.
The Simpsons actually did this in a lot of their earlier episodes as evidenced by this clip: http://charliewoodham.tumblr.com/post/71453619386/barkbarkbarkbarkbarkbarkbarkbark-that-weird-10
As you can see, it IS a little weird. Heck, the caption at the bottom is the OP expressing their “weirded-out” feelings over the sudden change in quality.
One thing animation needs to do well in order to be convincing is CONSISTENT, or else you feel like you’re watching a totally different show every scene. And while the bottom animation is by no means top-notch, it probably is pretty consistent to the style of the rest of the show.
So they sadly had to go with the gif at the bottom. And while it is by no means “shit” it sadly had to be re-done with what we see below. I can only hope the animator of the top gif got paid REALLY well for that scene because it is gorgeous.
The African Renaissance Monument in Senegal, larger that the Eiffel tower and the statue of liberty .. Things you don’t see in mainstream media.
This is beautiful.
I think this picture better illustrates the size of that monument.
I never even knew this existed this makes me so happy to find out about it
